A joke for us but a crime for the rest of the world.

Cyber bullying part-1:Being the bully

Overview

Cyber bullying or cyber harassment is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means also known as online bullying. The statistics show that approximately 34% of students report experiencing cyber bullying during their lifetime. Over 60% of students who experience cyber bullying reported that it immensely impacted them and feel safe while at school. 59% of U.S. teens have been bullied or harassed online and over 90% believe it's a major problem in their age.

This is the story of our little joke😈😂😘😎😇

Teens who are bullied are 2 times more likely to attempt suicide. We have always heard that cyber bullying is bad but in our own ways have done it probably intentionally or unintentionally. This story dates back to when I was in middle school. Naive as we were at that time, a bunch of my friends decided to text one of my friends pretending to be a boy. Let’s call this guy Jake. So Jake was a very popular boy from our grade and a lot of girls had a huge crush on this boy. We were at my friend’s birthday party and we texted this girl. Let’s call her Riya, she had the biggest crush on Jake. For the next 2 weeks we continually texted her with this fake id, which further led her into getting into a relationship with the ‘Jake’ whom she was texting. Things got crazy when she confronted Jake about the relationship. Now the real Jake had no clue about what was happening. We burst into laughs upon seeing what was happening. We knew that they were going to be mad at us but did not have the slightest idea of the consequences of our little joke. I guess we were expecting this to happen after the look they gave us. We got called into the school heads office and those were longest 30 mins of my life. The head went over and over about the impact of cyberbullying and he even threatened to call the police on us. The joke we played was apparently called as cyber bullying. I guess what happens happens for the best but after we were called in by the head, we had to get a signed apology letter from our parents which is story in itself. We all were grounded for a really long time, it felt like forever. My parents beings really strict or whatever made me delete my account on social media and confiscated my phone. But we swore never to this again. And don’t even get me started about what happened among us, Riya and Jake. But on that day we kinda lost our closest friends .i.e. Riya and Jake. We got divided to rival groups and a hell of drama took place. And guess what we got the title of the year .i.e. 'Worst class of the year'. Now obviously things are fine between us now but at that moment it was a lot of hate and trash talking.
